Chelsea Grin’s music is a blend of deathcore, metalcore, and death metal. The band’s early sound was heavily influenced by death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse and Deicide. As the band evolved, they incorporated more metalcore elements, resulting in a unique sound that is instantly recognizable.

Albums and tours

Chelsea Grin has released six full-length albums to date, including their 2018 release “Eternal Nightmare”. The album features guest appearances from notable musicians such as Tom Barber (ex-Lorna Shore) and Jake Harmond (Enterprise Earth).

The band has also toured extensively, playing shows across the United States and internationally. They have shared the stage with other popular metal bands such as Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, and Emmure.

Controversy and lineup changes

Chelsea Grin has had their fair share of controversy over the years. In 2012, lead vocalist Alex Koehler was arrested for assault and battery, leading to his departure from the band. He was replaced by Tom Barber, who had previously been the lead vocalist for the deathcore band Lorna Shore.

In 2018, guitarist Jake Harmond was fired from the band after allegations of sexual misconduct. He was replaced by Stephen Rutishauser, who had previously played in the band Sierra.


Chelsea Grin has cemented their place in the deathcore and metalcore scene over the years with their heavy, aggressive sound and intense live shows. While they have faced controversy and lineup changes, the band has continued to release music and tour, attracting a dedicated fanbase.
