Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada, in 1970 to an American mother and a Cuban father. Cruz grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended Princeton University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy. He then went on to attend Harvard Law School, where he was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review.
